Sound Healing FAQs
What is Sound Healing?
When an organ or body part is healthy, it creates a natural resonant frequency in harmony with the rest of the body. When the vibration of a part of the body is out of harmony, we have dis-ease. With dis-ease, a different sound pattern is established in the affected part of the body. When sound is projected into the dis-eased area, correct harmonic patterns are restored. Sound Healing is a therapeutic art and practice. It is important to have some training and musical knowledge as you work with a variety of notes and tunings. Alchemy bowls create a different experience than the plain quartz bowls as you have the added elements of gemstones, minerals, precious metals or earth substances which are amplified in the sound vibrations making for a rich and deep tonal blanket. Crystal singing bowl meditations can be guided and/or simply the pure tones of the bowls.
What is a Sound Bath?
A sound bath is a meditative experience where those in attendance are “bathed” in sound wave vibrations. These sound wave vibrations are produced by various sources, including healing instruments such as singing bowls, ocean drums, chimes, rain sticks, gongs, tuning forks, other percussion instruments and even the human voice itself.
Does a Sound Bath involve water? Do I need to wear a bathing suit?
No and no.😉 “Bath” or “bathed” refers to your body being immersed in sound wave vibrations created by one or more instruments.
Do I need to know how to meditate?
Not at all. Sometimes the practitioner will offer a guided meditation (gentle verbal instruction) for you to follow along while they are playing.
Do I need to do or be familiar with yoga?
Not unless you are attending a Yoga and Sound Bath combination session. Often those are even at a beginner’s level so you could still attend if you are unfamiliar with any yoga practices.
Do I need to know or be familiar with any special breathing/breathwork techniques?
No. Similar to the Guided Meditation, the practitioner may gently guide you through some breathing techniques or some guided breathwork but you don’t need to have any special knowledge of this ahead of time.
What do I need to bring? What should I wear?
I always suggest to bring and wear, whatever is going to make you most comfortable. Comfortable clothes is obviously at the participants discretion & weather appropriate, suggested would be sweats, leggings, loose fitting pants/shorts, t-shirts (long or short), sweatshirts, socks (if your feet tend to get cold easily). As for what to bring with you I suggest a blanket or yoga mat to lay on and if you’d like a blanket to cover up, a pillow for your head, a pillow or yoga bolster for under your knees to relieve lower back pressure, an eye mask or eye pillow to block out any light. Again, whatever is going to help you to relax fully (with beds and couches being the exception ~ you may not want to bring those😉).
I’ve seen metal bowls, all white bowls, or bowls that are the colors of the rainbow ~ are those the same thing?
That’s a good question. No they are not the same. The metal bowls are typically Tibetan metal bowls and have a very different sound vibration and are often hand made. The white frosted bowls are typically frosted quartz only bowls ~ no additional gemstones, precious metals, or earth substances are added to them. The rainbow colored bowls are also typically quartz crystal but then dye is added to match the colors of the Chakras.
What are your bowls made of?
My crystal singing bowls are made of the highest quality (99.992% pure!) quartz crystal, making them incredibly resonant. Additionally, my crystal bowls have been infused with gemstones, earth substances and minerals such as azeztulite, charcoal, Great Salt Lake salt, rose quartz, larimar and precious metals like platinum and 24 carat gold. What makes your bowls so special?
The quartz used is from the most sought after mine in North Carolina, known world wide for its unsurpassed quality and the crystal singing bowls are produced in the USA. The alchemy singing bowls are produced on a one of a kind custom built machine that utilizes a proprietary quartz fusion technology. This allows for the absolute highest magma temperature during production and creates a stable crystalline matrix structure in every Crystal Tones bowl. There is a significant quality difference ~ the tones produced by Crystal Tones singing bowls are not just heard by the ear, you feel them in your body, with certain tones affecting your energy centers (chakras) for healing, balancing & meditation. Every single Crystal Alchemy Singing Bowl is completely unique ~ in other words, no two are the same ~

What is sound vibration?
Everything that moves vibrates, from the smallest molecule to the universe itself. As long as it is vibrating, it is making some kind of sound. We may not perceive the sound, as it may be below or above the threshold of our hearing. The human ear can hear sound vibrations between 20 and 20,000 cycles per second, although we also perceive sound by skin and bone conduction, ingesting and consuming it with the whole body. Many cultures and religions revere sound so deeply as to believe it called the universe into being. For the Hindus, all was dark and quiet in the universe, until the first movement in the universe created the sound "AUM". It is the mother tone, containing the frequencies of all other sounds. Scientific studies show that sound can produce changes in the autonomic, immune, endocrine and neuropeptide systems. Every atom, molecule, cell, gland, and organ of the human body absorbs and emits sound. The entire body, as well as our brain waves in a relaxed state, vibrates at a fundamental frequency of about 8 cycles per second, literally entraining and attuning us to the basic electromagnetic field of the earth itself!
What is crystal?
Crystals are fossilized water, formed when water combines with an element under certain conditions of pressure, temperature and energy. As a crystal, the element is able to express itself as a more unified and ordered being. Silica sand combined with water becomes quartz crystal. Quartz crystals have many physical properties. They amplify, transform, store, and transfer energy. Our bodies down to our very DNA are also crystalline in structure. When working with crystals, there may be profound effects on the organs, tissues and cells, as well as the circulatory, endocrine and metabolic systems. Thoughts are energy forms. When thought energy interacts with a crystal, those thoughts are changed to more harmonic forms, which change brainwave frequencies, showing possible alterations in consciousness. Thus, the power of positive intention or affirmation combined with the use of crystals may provide remarkable healing results. What makes Crystal Tones alchemy singing bowls unique is they are infused with gemstones, minerals, earth substances and precious metals which are amplified through the quartz, creating alchemy tones which are exquisite. The crystalline harmonics open synapses and ignite brain waves, bringing cleansing, clearing and clarity. They build the energetic circuits to house unconditional love: potent, anchored and integrated.

When & where did you get certified to be a Sound Healer?
I attended my Level 1 Certification Training in Los Angeles, California through the Sacred Science of Sound with Professor Jeralyn Glass & Sound Healer Susy Markoe Schieffelin in Jan/Feb of 2020. Then I attended my Level 2 Certification Training through the Sacred Science of Sound in November 2020. Additionally, I am enrolled to take further Certification Trainings through the end of 2021.
