The Story of my
Sound Healing Journey

At the beginning of 2019, I was discussing with Kevin the fact that since I began practicing yoga, over 20 years ago, I have always wanted to go through Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) and become a Certified Yoga Teacher. After discussing it at length and doing some research I decided that 2019 was going to be the year that I finally would do it. “All of the things” in life had gotten in my way long enough and I finally felt ready to take on this new challenge.

Turns out, life/God/the Universe had other plans because I was given a very clear sign that this was not the time to take YTT. Feeling quite defeated and wondering why this happened, I attended an INCREDIBLE Heart Opening Meditation Workshop held by my friends, Linda Barberic (who has also been my Yoga Teacher for over 20 years) & Eliza Wing (who is my Meditation Teacher), both of Your Awakened Heart (check them out, they’re amazing!).

At the end of the workshop, Linda got out her Crystal Bowl which was an F note for your Heart Chakra and just played it. To say that that moment changed my life is an understatement, even if I didn’t know it at the time!

As you probably read on the About Us page, the tumor from my cancer was right at what we call the heart center/heart chakra and the sensation/feeling I had when she played that Crystal Bowl was indescribable. I can tell you that it not only brought me to tears but that feeling stayed with me for many days afterwards. Please don’t misunderstand, the tears were not tears of pain or hurt, they were tears of pure joy, hope, love, gratitude, inspiration, healing and many other things!

Enamored, and on a kind of high from the experience, I asked Linda about the Crystal Bowl. She shared a little with me and I was completely intrigued. Driving home I couldn’t wait to tell Kevin all about this experience! I wasn’t sure where I was going to find out more about what I just experienced but life/God/the Universe had already set the wheels in motion and I was about to trip onto exactly what I was looking for.

It actually happened in quite a roundabout way, but stick with me because this is one of those things that reminds me of something I have said for a LONG time and am a very firm believer of…”everything happens for a reason!”

The Beachbody Super Trainer I had been training with and getting certified by, Autumn Calabrese, was hosting a retreat in Greece. I was following her trip on Instagram and was living vicariously through her stories. At one point, she tagged the company that helped her to put this whole retreat together, Revamp Retreats. Of course I clicked the link to check out their profile and what do I see?! An upcoming retreat in Bali for…wait for it…Yoga and Sound Healing!!!! WHAT?! I couldn’t believe this!

[Side note: the sign about not going through YTT happened on May 23, Linda played the Crystal Bowl on Jun 8, I clicked the link that Autumn shared for the retreat company on Jun 11. Mind Blown!]

It gets better…the 2 women who were hosting the Yoga and Sound Healing Retreat were sisters, Susy & Elizabeth, who both had accounts on Instagram so I immediately clicked into each one. The picture for Susy on the retreat flyer showed her with hair, but when I visited her profile, she had pictures of herself with no hair and a video link. I, being a cancer survivor who had lost all of her hair through treatments, clicked the video to see what had changed for Susy. I was elated to learn that it wasn’t cancer that took her hair, but also profoundly inspired by the fact that even though she had been battling with Alopecia for many years that she decided she wanted to share her authentic self and she was “flipping her wigs” PERMANENTLY! Feeling a sort of connection, I reached out and explained that I couldn’t completely understand what she was going through but that I had my own experience with baldness and that I was sending her so much love as I was in awe of how she decided to take control. This led us to talking more about Sound Healing and I began exploring further.

As it would turn out, I wasn’t meant to go on that Bali retreat, but Susy posted about upcoming trainings with herself & her Mentor Teacher, Professor Jeralyn Glass, and I knew that I just had to go. I had no idea what would come of it or why I was being called but I told Kevin, “I just have to go and learn everything I can about it.” Being, as usual, completely supportive he said “Ok, let’s make it happen and send you to California.”

I was nervous, excited, and full of wonder as I waited to go into the first day of the training. This training was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before! When it ended I was sad, exhilarated, full of love, grace, joy and peace. I had been searching for a LOT of years to find something that I could do with my life that would not only give my life purpose but that would also allow me to simultaneously give back and help others. I finally found it, my Soul’s purpose on this planet, in this life ~ Sound Healer!

I feel so honored to be able to share this gift of sound energy with other people. The feedback I receive at the end of a session is always that of pure joy, love, gratitude and relaxation. More often than not people want to stay longer and/or immediately want to know “when is the next session”. Being able to offer this time for people to find peace and calm is such a privilege and my heart just radiates pure happiness of being able to help others.
